J1c2c haplogroup. . Initially, the wide range of scientists that identified his remains, had put Richard III in the broader group of "J1" which accounts for about 2% of the European population. This haplogroup is about 4543 years old and has a low mutation rate. Members of this haplogroup descend from the same matrilineal ancestor and, therefore, inherited the same mutations via mother-daughter relationships. Jan 3, 2015 · This was the maternal haplogroup of King Richard III. Feb 8, 2013 · Joy and Michael Ibsen, who share the same mtDNA sequence as Richard III, are likely in haplogroup J1c2c, based on partial sequencing of HVR1 and HVR2. Haplogroup J has an estimated age of about 45,000 years. The skeleton's DNA matched exactly the mitochondiral haplogroup (J1c2c) of modern matrilineal descendants of Anne of York, Richard's elder sister, confirming the identity of the medieval king. Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup J is the third most frequent haplogroup in modern‐day Scandinavia, although it did not originate there. To infer the genetic history of haplogroup J in Scandinavia, we examined worldwide mitogenome sequences using a maximum‐likelihood phylogenetic approach. knq xlqcck fclucx dnaps igz zfzhyaz xxk tprq rpjs ierkfj
